Retrospective of Edvards Grūbe’s works at age 75
February 5 to March 14, in LNMA’s "Arsenāls" exhibition space, artist Edvards Grūbe’s 50-year career and 75th birthday this year is marked with an exhibit and new book.
The over 150 works on display are from Grūbe’s personal archives, several private collections and permanent collections at the Latvian National Museum of Art (LNMA) and the Latvian Artists’ Union – from 1963 to today.
In tandem with this show is the release of art historian Laima Slava’s new book "Edvards Grūbe", published by "Neputns".
Grūbe’s forte is oil painting, and he creates figural compositions and still lifes. His works reflect the solemnity and affection that he shows his subjects/objects.
The curator is LNMA’s Dace Lamberga.
